Surgical Services at Sutter Tracy
When your doctor prescribes surgery for you or a loved one, you know that you are going to want the best: the best surgeon, assisted by the best surgical team, operating with the latest and best surgical equipment in the safety of a hospital-based setting. You have a choice when it comes to choosing your surgeon, and you also have a choice as to where that surgery is performed.
Because You Deserve the Best
Sutter Tracy Community Hospital is home to one of the area’s most technologically advanced surgical units. Whether your surgery is planned as an outpatient procedure or is a more complex surgery involving an inpatient hospital stay, you and your surgeon will have the support and expertise of our surgical team. That surgical team consists of specially trained surgical nurses and support staff, as well as Board Certified Anesthesiologists, all of whom work alongside your surgeon to insure your safety and to help assure excellent surgical outcomes.
Keeping Pace with Advancing Technology
Surgeries today are much different than they were even 10 years ago. Access to new technologies and advanced techniques means that many procedures that once required lengthy hospital stays and recovery periods can now be achieved on an outpatient basis with faster and less painful recoveries. Patients can go home the same day as their surgery and return to their normal activities more quickly, often within a matter of days.
Sutter Tracy Surgical Services is at the leading edge of this revolution, serving more than 7,500 patients a year. Our state-of-the-art, 10,000-square foot facility is home to a medical team that has training and experience equaling that of any big city surgical staff.
The four operating suites have recently been remodeled and boast the latest in high tech equipment. This gives our highly skilled physicians the advanced tools that they need to perform orthopedic, gynecological, gastrointestinal and other surgeries here at Sutter Tracy with the same precision, safety, and comfort that you would find at any major metropolitan medical center.
Safety, Comfort, and Convenience
The fact that our surgical services are hospital-based ensures a level of patient safety that would be unavailable at freestanding outpatient surgery centers. Being connected to the hospital provides greater patient safety in the event of unforeseen complications, and Sutter Tracy also offers physical therapy and many other services patients may need following their surgery to enhance their recovery.
Our surgical services features 12 new outpatient rooms, a two-room gastrointestinal (GI) suite and a dedicated pediatric patient room. Our spacious private recovery areas reduce noise and provide patients with a greater level of privacy. A large, comfortable waiting area includes a separate section for children complete with children’s movies, toys and games.
Our Surgeons Demand the Best
The driving force behind our continual upgrades of equipment and facilities is the excellent surgeons who practice here at Sutter Tracy. Many are at the forefront of their field and choose Sutter Tracy for its sophisticated technology and outstanding support staff, as well as the enhanced quality of life that living in a smaller community provides.
A number of these physicians are trained in sophisticated surgical procedures and minimally invasive techniques that result in less pain and quicker recovery times than traditional surgical methods performed elsewhere. Several of the advanced procedures available at Sutter Tracy include:
- Bladder control procedures, including pelvic floor reconstruction and the Medtronic InterStim® Therapy device that regulates urinary function
- Brachytherapy, a minimally invasive treatment for prostate cancer
- Endoscopic decompression and nucleoplasty to help relieve agonizing pain caused by herniated discs
- Laparoscopic hysterectomy, the most advanced type of hysterectomy available
- Lithotripsy, an ultrasound treatment to break up bladder or kidney stones so they can be easily passed from the body
- Uterine balloon therapy to treat the lining of the uterus to control heavy menstrual cycles
We’re also proud of our high marks for patient care and satisfaction. In 2006, Sutter Tracy outpatient satisfaction results ranked in the top 10 percent across California and the nation.
Quality. Safety. Compassion. This is why Sutter Tracy has earned the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations’ (JCAHO) coveted seal of approval in recognition of our high level of quality care and patient safety.
