TRACY, CA-- The 8th annual Run for the Ribbon and Community Health Fair is scheduled for Saturday, September 29, from 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in front of the West Valley Mall on Naglee Road, Tracy. The festivities start at 8 a.m. with a USATF-certified half marathon. The day’s events also include USATF-certified 10K run and 5K run/walk, Pamela Shenk Memorial 2 mile Walk and a free 50 yard dash for children under 12.
Planned by the Tracy Hospital Foundation and sponsored by a number of local sponsors, the event will include live entertainment, a pancake breakfast for registered participants, a race t-shirt and an overall age division awards ceremony.
Proceeds from the Run for the Ribbon directly benefit Tracy families dealing with cancer. Last year’s run raised more than $15,000 for local cancer education and support programs, such as Tracy Cancer Support Services. Located inside Healthy Connections, Tracy Cancer Support Services offers guidance throughout the cancer diagnosis and treatment process. Financial assistance is also available to families facing financial difficulties due to this deadly disease.
The Community Health Fair features over 40 booths with information on health and wellness, cancer resources, local fitness resources and more. Take advantage of free health screenings – such as blood sugar levels, bone density and body mass index (BMI) -- and schedule a free mammogram appointment.
