Sutter Tracy Approves Plans for Future Development

8/16/2006

TRACY, CA – Sutter Tracy Community Hospital announced plans to locate future facilities on 38 acres located within the future Gateway Business Park. The Gateway project is located at the southwest corner of 11th Street and Lammers Road close to I-205 and I-580.

The Hospital Board of Trustees approved the Gateway site and will review recommendations for future uses of the site and the existing hospital campus at a later date. Sutter Tracy CEO Dave Thompson said that it will take several years to plan and receive regulatory approval for the construction of a new health care campus and any changes to the Hospital's current location.

Sutter Tracy acquired the Gateway land in 2005 to ensure that the Hospital has adequate room to meet the needs of Tracy's growing population. Current forecasts predict that the number of residents in the Tracy area will more than double over the next decade.

"As the Tracy area grows, so does the demand for health care services currently not offered in the region," said Frances Mizuno, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. "After evaluating several site options, we chose the Gateway location because we felt it would best meet the community's needs with regards to service capacity, accessibility and expandability."

Sutter Tracy Community Hospital is a full-service, acute care hospital that offers a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services. Founded in 1948 by a group of community residents and business members, the hospital became an affiliate of Sutter Health, Northern California's leading non-profit provider of health care services and programs, in 1993.
