HELP TRAIN MORE CHILDREN TO SAVE LIVES AT THE 7TH ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF TREES

October 2001

Christmas trees and CPR come together when the Tracy Hospital Foundation presents its 7th Annual Festival of Trees Weekend Nov. 16-18, at the Tracy Ballroom (IPFES), 430 W. 9th Street, Tracy.
Proceeds from the benefit will go to the Foundation's CPR for Kids Program. More than 25,000 Tracy third, sixth and 10th graders and community members have learned CPR and other life-saving skills through the program. Additional proceeds from the event have been used to buy cardiac defibrillators for the local fire departments.

One of the many miracles of the CPR program involved an 11-year-old girl who used her CPR skills to help save a 2-year-old boy who was found floating in a pool. Sixth-grader Brittany Goodwin completed the Foundation's certified CPR course, just 2-days prior to helping her neighbor Katie Logan save Blaine Brooks life.

The festival begins with a black-tie event Friday at 5:30 p.m. Elaborately decorated Christmas trees and the gifts beneath them will be auctioned off, silent auction, a unique drawing for fine wine and much more. Tickets for the Soiree are $90 each.

The public can view the trees and wreaths Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. The weekend's activities also include Teddy Bear Tea Parties, children's activities, a gift shop just for kids, continuous live entertainment, photos with Santa Claus, Silver Bells Social, a holiday cafe featuring home-baked goods and candy and a gift boutique.
General admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children. Two drawings will be held for a garden house and a children's specialty tree.

Saturday night features "Jinglebell Jam... Dancing in the Trees," a party featuring dinner, dancing, and a live and silent auction of trees, gifts, trips and more. Tickets are $55 each. For more information, call the Festival Hotline at 833-2453.
