Sutter Tracy Community Hospital Honors Cultural Diversity
July 2002
Staff members at Sutter Tracy are bringing over 15 countries from all over the world, under one big white tent, honoring the vast diversity of cultural traditions. The 3rd annual Cultural Fair will be held on Thursday, June 27th from 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm on the hospital grounds.
Respiratory Manager Mina Whyte spearheads this annual event and has been overwhelmed with the tremendous response and participation from staff members, physicians and their spouses. "The enthusiasm and commitment to sharing their cultures, recipes, dances and history of their country has been incredible," comments Mina. "Learning about their heritage and unique customs builds strong bonds amongst staff and help us become more sensitive caretakers of our diverse patient population."
Staff members will demonstrate ethnic dancing, cook authentic ethnic food for tasting, make a brief presentation on their country, dress in their native clothing apparel, and display artifacts, maps and historical items from their country. The event is hosted for staff members only.
