Modesto – November 20, 2009– – Sutter Tracy Community Hospital is among 10 hospitals affiliated with Sutter Health received the prestigious “Certificate of Excellence” from the California Hospital Assessment and Reporting Task Force (CHART). Only 36 hospital campuses across California (of 218 participating hospitals) received this honor, and one-third of them are affiliated with the Sutter Health network.
“At Sutter Tracy, providing safe, high quality patient care is our top priority,” said David M. Thompson, CEO. “We keep patient care at the center of everything we do, while always working to improve the care that we provide. This recognition provides us with valuable feedback and shows that our efforts have been successful.”
The “Certificate of Excellence” recognizes that the winning hospital achieved above average or superior scores in five of the eight CHART measurements, did not receive any “below average” or “poor” score on any measure, and reported data for all of the measurements for which they qualify.
Data collected by CHART is available as a user-friendly, online report card at www.CalHospitalCompare.org. Published by the California HealthCare Foundation, the free service allows consumers to search for hospitals by location, name, or medical condition. Hospitals are ranked on 50 “performance indicators,” including common reasons for admissions such as cardiac care, maternity services and treatment for pneumonia. Patient experience data also is included. Data is voluntarily submitted by participating hospitals. The not-for-profit Sutter Health network has participated on the CHART Steering Committee since its inception in 2004.

Serving patients and their families in more than 100 Northern California cities and towns, Sutter Health doctors, not-for-profit hospitals and other health care service providers join resources and share expertise to advance health care quality and access. The Sutter Medical Network includes many of California’s top-performing, highest quality physician organizations as measured annually by the Integrated Healthcare Organization. Sutter-affiliated hospitals are regional leaders in cardiac care, women’s and children’s services, cancer care, orthopedics and advanced patient safety technology.
