His father was the first person from their hometown in India to earn a PhD in chemistry and has been devoted to the education of his children and many nieces and nephews. Hospital. He also completed residences at MacNeal Memorial Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois and St. Luke’s Presbyterian Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Patel is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics by the American Board of Internal Medicine with certification in Practice Management and is very interested in Hospital Quality Improvement, Comprehensive Diabetes Management, Endocrinology, Preventive Medicine, health education and mind-body well being. Together with Faith Heitzer, he founded Tracy’s first ADA recognized Diabetes education program. Dr. Patel also provides education scholarship support to students at Tracy High School along with mentoring opportunities.

Dr. Patel was appointed Chief of Medical Staff at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital in 1994 and just recently returned to the position. He has also served on the Tracy Hospital Foundation’s Board of Trustees since 2004 and was named the Foundation’s Treasurer in 2005.
